Renewables are abundant. They are also intermittent. Grids need a bridge between generation and demand – and that is exactly what we build. By deploying utility-scale storage across Japan, we turn variable solar and wind into firm, dispatchable capacity: the backbone of a zero-carbon grid the country can rely on.

Our ambition does not stop at Japan's border. We capture midday sun and dispatch it at midnight – sunlight after dark. It is an elegant idea, and we are scaling it across Asia's fastest-growing power markets.

Every major leap of civilization ran on power. The next leap, powered by AI, will demand more electricity than humanity has ever generated. Producing clean power is a solved problem. Delivering it on demand is not. We build the missing half of the energy transition: storage.

For Japan, energy independence is no longer optional. Power is a foundational infrastructure: every factory, railway, hospital, and data cluster depends on an unshakeable supply. Yet Japan remains one of the most import-dependent advanced economies on earth.

Nuclear power once backstopped that exposure. Since 2011, persistent offline capacity and slow restarts have widened the structural deficit just as electrification accelerates.

Renewables have surged to compensate, but an inflexible grid cannot absorb them. On peak solar and wind days, operators are forced to curtail, shutting off clean generation, while the nation continues burning imported fossil fuels.

Storage is the missing link. This is the problem Green Battery exists to solve.

World's toughest
proving ground

Why start in Japan? Because if it works here, it works anywhere.

Japan runs one of the world's most demanding power systems – geographically dense, tightly regulated and constrained by rigid land, safety and interconnection rules. It is also ground zero for energy vulnerability: nearly all fuel is imported, demand is surging from AI and electrification, and 8.5 TWh of clean energy is curtailed every year simply because there is nowhere to put it.

Japan is not the easy market. It is the crucible that proves the model. Master this grid, and the platform is primed to scale across Asian economies facing the identical challenge: securing domestic energy independence they can build, not buy.

Green Battery was born from a glaring contradiction: Japan generates more clean power than it can use yet burns billions importing foreign fuel. Where others saw a static grid barrier, we saw an infrastructure vacuum waiting to be filled.

Getting this right takes more than hardware. We work closely with investors and local governments to deploy infrastructure that earns dependable returns and that neighbors are happy to live near, a claim we back with real safety and community practices, not just words.
